چکیده
UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Microsatellite markers were developed and characterized in Byrsonima cydoniifolia (Malpighiaceae) to allow further investigation of genetic variation in natural populations. Cross-amplification was tested in the related species B. crassifolia. • METHODS AND RESULTS Seventeen microsatellite markers were isolated by a microsatellite-enriched library protocol. Fourteen polymorphic and three monomorphic loci were identified in B. cydoniifolia. The mean number of alleles in the three populations were 6.5, 6.5, and 8.2, ranging from three to 17 for different loci and populations. Mean observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.706 and 0.727, respectively. The fixation index was close to zero for all but two loci. Nine microsatellite loci were successfully cross-amplified in B. crassifolia. • CONCLUSIONS This new set of microsatellite markers will be a useful tool for genetic studies of B. cydoniifolia, supporting strategies for maintaining the genetic diversity of this species and possibly that of many related species.

Isolation and characterization of microsatellite loci in the Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus, Borodine, 1897) and cross-species amplification in four commercial sturgeons from the Caspian Sea
In order to have a sustainable management on Persian sturgeon as a highly commercial species in the South Caspian Sea, we need to identify its population structure and the level as well as its conservation status in their natural habitat. To develop a conservation program for this all Caspian Sea' sturgeon species it requires knowledge of its genetic diversity using reliable molecular marker t...

متن کاملOil collecting bees and Byrsonima cydoniifolia A. Juss. (Malpighiaceae) interactions: the prevalence of long-distance cross pollination driving reproductive success.
Oil-collecting bees are the natural pollinators of oil-flower plants, but little is known about the pollination process and the effectiveness of their pollination service to the reproductive success of their host plants. In species of Byrsonima the reproductive system have been described as auto-compatible or self-incompatible. We studied the reproductive system of Byrsonima cydoniifolia, the f...

Development of microsatellite markers has been an increasing trend in crop genetic studies because oftheir applicability in breeding programs. Here we report the development of inter simple sequencerepeat (SSRs) in pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) using an enrichment method that makes use of magneticbeads. Enriched genomic libraries with AG and ATG microsatellite motifs were c...
متن کاملIsolation and characterization of 13 new microsatellite markers in the triangle mussel (Hyriopsis cumingii)
Microsatellite enriched library of Hyriopsis cumingii was constructed according to the strong affinity between biotin and streptavidin. One hundred clones with foreign inserts were sequenced and 65 clones were screened for usable microsatellites, of which 36 were deemed unique, of sufficient length (more than 8 repeats) and possessed adequate flanking regions for primer designment. Among 36 pri...
